WEST NYACK, N.Y. – Antonia C. Allende, a resident of West Nyack, died Sunday, June 26. She was 77.
She was born on May 22,1939, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor of science degree in physical and occupational therapy. After moving to New York with her husband, she graduated with a master's degree in public administration from New York University.
She worked as a physical therapist for the Veterans Administration Hospital in New York City for nearly 20 years. Afterwards, she continued her work as a physical therapist for Rockland BOCES for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed staying physically active by working out daily, playing outdoor sports, and dancing.
She is survived by her son, Ron (Martha) Allende and her daughter, Astrid (Kaplan) Mobray, her grandchildren, Cian and Andre Allende and Danse Mobray.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 2, from 1-3 p.m. at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home in West Nyack.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to United Hospice of Rockland would be appreciated.
